THE EUROPA VALVE, A PIECE OF ITAP’S HISTORY.

THE 5 STEPS SINCE 1972.

— 01 —

Europa valves are an ITAP invention.

The story that led to the creation of the Europa valve began in 1958.
On the Italian market, the check valve that is the most popular is the “Novara”: a heavy and very expensive product, of rapid wear, not very functional and installable only vertically.
It was decided to develop a valve that solved all these problems.

— 02 —

From the fi rst study was born the “mother” of Europe, the patented Orologio valve.
This type of valve lasted longer, worked better, could be installed in any position and cost less.
Despite the commercial success, however, the sealing system, although improved, was not considered entirely satisfactory.
The continuous water hammer to which a check valve is subjected, in fact, over time created problems with the internal components, making it necessary to replace the valve.

— 03 —

After another 4 years of studies, prototypes and laboratory and plant tests, by Vincenzo, Benedetto and Sebastiano Patti and with the collaboration of the University of Padova (1972), the Europa valve was born.

— 04 —

Its system became a spring (patented in 1987), the seal was revolutionized with a system of components in steel, brass and rubber, with the consequent almost total resolution of the wear problem.

— 05 —

Over the years it was further improved by introducing the plate, reducing its weight and cost, up to the point of completely eliminating wear, obtaining a reliable and long-lasting valve.
Thus was born the Europa valve as we know it today and patented in 1989.
