Frequently Asked Questions

Q. "What is the Sharkbite® system?"
A. The Sharkbite® system increases ease of use while decreasing the time and effort needed to connect water distribution pipe. The pipe is inserted into the fitting and held in place by several metal "teeth" and a durable O-ring. The joint can be disassembled only with a SharkBite® de mount clip or tong.

Q. "What is DZR brass?"
A. DZR (Dezincification Resistant Brass) is an alloy used to make pipe fittings for use with potable water. Dezincification typically occurs in brass alloys containing more than 15% zinc and can be caused by water containing sulfur, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. Stationary or slow moving water tend to promote dezincification.
