Joins 3.0 inch OD Pipe to 3.0 inch ID Pipe. Lap joint exhaust clamp is a simple, effective way to connect heavy-duty exhaust system components such as pipes, muffler and catalytic converters. Width of strap: 2.94inch (74.8mm). Torque: 63 N·m.
Connection Type: ID-OD slip fit connection, preferably with compression slit. This lap joint clamp commonly to join standard pipe with flex pipe.
Distributes the clamping force evenly over the entire 360° to provide tight sealing and prevent leaks and prohibit exhaust pipe distortion.

This is a perfect joint! I wasn't sure how well this would work so I wrapped the connection with muffler repair tape first. It was a little loose at first, about 1/8 gap all around both sides. But as I tightened the nuts the joint started to form fit around the connection. It fit so tightly that you can see the divot from the last muffler joint I had on there. I did have to cut the bolts once fully tightened so it would clear the skid plate, but that isn't a problem with the design. I would definitely recommend

I had a flaired female 3" OD exhaust connection that wouldn't allow me to fit the 3" ID male connection on my 2014 RAM 1500. It was either bring my truck to a muffler shop, or find something that can reattach the two. I used the 3" ID x 3" OD lap joint along with some heat resistant silver tape to clamp the two separated pipe together. Although there were no instructions on how to put this together, it was real simple--if you are trying to fix your exhaust pipe on your own, then you should definitely be able to assemble this lap joint on it. Installation was fairly easy, a 9/16" deep bolt socket and a 9/16" wrench to hold the nut should work with no issues.

The thickness of the sheet is thin, like 0.020 thin (I measured it with my calipers). However, it feels solid and almost malleable to the pipe as I tightened it to my exhaust. Definitely worth the money. As time goes on, I'll add to my review. At this time though, I feel very great about this lap joint and encourage anyone that needs it to buy this kind.

Item arrived very quickly. Material feels like a cookie cutter. It is advertised as being stainless steel and it feels just like it. I don't have a machine to verify but I believe it to actually be true. It's designed so if your exhaust you are clamping is slightly larger or smaller than the size it is made to fit, it should still bite down. Bolts and nuts are included, seem to snug down well. There are no locknut's included so I'll have to see how this holds up. It's been below freezing this past week so I have yet to actually install it in my vehicle to test but I was very impressed with it's build and tested it by clamping some piping together in the shop. That held together very well. If I ever need another I will be sure to reorder.

I ordered these lap style band clamps because I wanted an upgrade from the old u bolt clamps that came with my new stainless steel, cat back exhaust system. However these clamps came without instructions, and I found hand tight, was not enough to secure the joints. I went to my local auto parts store and read the instructions off the box of a similar band clamp, stating it should be torqued between 48 & 60 LB. FT. I torqued mine to 55 LB. FT., so in the end it all worked out great, tight & leak free joints.

Bought 2 of these to replace the single bolt clamps that came with my exhaust from Texas Speed; which had small leaks despite torqueing them to the point of stripping. These clamps design simply works better. I noticed immediately they form tighter to the exhaust pipe with less effort than my other clamps. I was able to achieve a very nice seal with a normal amount of torque on the clamp. Most importantly, no leaks. I'm ordering two more of these just to keep on hand, and the next time I pull off the exhaust I plan on replacing 2 other clamps of the old style.

I needed to replace the front exhaust pipe on my 2000 Saturn, and selected this clamp to join the new pipe to the existing pipe that would be cut off in front of the catalytic converter. I'd used traditional U-clamps before, and had mixed results getting a leak-free connection. I pre-assembled this clamp as soon as I received it, and it fit nicely on the end of the new pipe. It turns out that the new pipe wouldn't fit my car despite numerous data sources indicating otherwise, so I wasn't able to use this clamp. However, other than the fact that the stainless steel could have been a bit thicker (IMHO), I'm quite sure that this clamp would have worked well.

I bought this for an IPD exhaust I put in a Volvo S60. One of the clamps that came with the kit wasn't too secure. I bought this clamp. It is very nice looking. Unfortunately it is to small.
